I have neglected this blog over the past 2 weeks. Mairead Ashcroft 28/3/16

I am back but only running on about 55%. I have not been drawing, painting, journalling or crafting. This heart stuff has really taken it's toll on me, physically, emotionally and psychologically. I have been in bed feeling unwell and in pain for 15 days and am supposed to be heading back to work tomorrow. I have no sick pay left, I used up my holiday pay and things are getting very tight, so "Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to work I go." I will just need to do my best and take painkillers until I am better. Whingey Whine Over!!!

Aldous Huxley, Island - Gentle advice in perfect pros, as I battle yet another difficult time that has pulled me back into the horrors of my childhood. I am getting the help and support that I need but my pain, at the moment, is overwhelming.

Aldous Huxley, Island “It’s dark because you are trying too hard.  Lightly child, lightly. Learn to do everything lightly.   Yes, feel lightly even though you’re feeling deeply.   Just lightly let things happen and lightly cope with them. I was so preposterously serious in those days, such a humorless little prig. Lightly, lightly – it’s the best advice ever given me.   When it comes to dying even. Nothing ponderous, or portentous, or emphatic.   No rhetoric, no tremolos,   no self conscious persona putting on its celebrated imitation of Christ or Little Nell.   And of course, no theology, no metaphysics.   Just the fact of dying and the fact of the clear light. So throw away your baggage and go forward.   There are quicksands all about you, sucking at your feet,   trying to suck you down into fear and self-pity and despair.   That’s why you must walk so lightly.   Lightly my darlin...

How stress affects your body - Sharon Horesh Bergquist. Yes...Stress from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) has made me sick. I have posted many articles on this blog about mindfulness and de-stressing through meditation and I strongly believe that they are all viable practices for lowering daily stress. The stress associated with Trauma, on the other hand, is a whole different creature and requires speciality care from a professional mental health practitioner and possibly the use of specific medications might lower the affects of stress, PTSD and other chronic conditions associated with trauma.

Heart Ache - Heart Break. Mairead Ashcroft 11/3/16

Today I have been diagnosed with coronary heart disease - LAD ( left anterior descending artery). This artery has been nicknamed, "The Widow Maker". I am feeling a little worried and the diagnosis has come as a shock.  I am 51 years old, I don't smoke, I don't drink alcohol, tea, coffee or soft drink, I don't take any elicit drugs and I walk about 6 kms, 4-5 days per week. So why me??? I have experienced long term stress for most of my life due to childhood abuse and much more intensely during the last 5 years while trying to have Brother Bernard Hartman extradited to Australia, arrested and jailed for sexually abusing me when I was a young child. " Coronary heart disease is also much more common in individuals subjected to chronic stress and recent research has focused on how to identify and prevent this growing problem" (The American Institute of Stress) http://www.lifescript.com/health/ask_the_doctor/articles/ask_the_doctor_stress...
